the cube

Here again with another question...

I have been toying around with the 'cube' monster trying to figure out how he works. I can place a cube in my dungeon but he comes to life immediately. I can stun him with the weapon of power and while repeatedly stunning him I can insert the machine parts and then take them back out and then I can destroy him. What I don't seem to be able to do is have him asleep or subdued like in Grimrock 1 so I can put in the parts one by one and then when the last part is inserted he comes to life. What would be the command to have him dormant until all the parts are inserted?

There isn't one. Look at The Master Quest or Legend of Grimrock - Remake for attempts to recreate it.

I would think that just defining a dummy object that used the cube mesh as a static decoration, would be the way to go; then swap the objects when the cube is meant to wake up.

Sounds like a plan. I will try it. Thank you

You'd do well to download the source files for Grimrock Remake (from Nexus) and you can see exactly how I set it up. It's extremely complex, but you're free to copy paste all you want!
