Grimrock

hello

i love grimrock1 and i am looking forward for grimrock2 i need to buy a new graphic card next month, and whanted to know, how much power i will need for grimrock2.

at the moment the basic specs of my pc are: i5 2500k, 8gig ram, onboard graphic. wich graphic card would you get, to play grimmrock2 with full details on 2560x1440?

You should be able to "get by" with a GeForce 770 at 1440p for most games. Sure, you wouldn't be able to have all of the settings cranked up AND have 60fps - but for most games, you could put them on 'Medium' or 'High' and get a pretty solid FPS on a 770. However, if you want to run games on Very High or Max Settings at 1440p - I agree with Dr. Disaster that a 780 is your best bet.

The biggest problem is that you want to game at 2560x1440. Doesn't sound much bigger than 1080p but 2560x1440 = 3.69 million pixels vs 1920x1080 = 2.1 million pixels. That's getting close to 2x as many pixels. Most games seem to run at about 60-70% of their 1080p FPS at 1440p.

Well HD+ resolutions are very demanding in gfx power.
You might get away with one notch less (nvidia GTX 770 / ADM R9 280X) but then you might need to reduce some settings in the AA/Shadow/SSAO department PLUS you prolly want to play other stuff too, not just LoG.

i was thinking to buy the new AMD Radeon R9 285. i was playing grimrock 1 on a old budget card (ati 4850), and it whent fine with 1920x1080 with low shadow, without aa.

i am suprised that grimrock 2 will be such demanding. but it will be worth it
other games i would like to play are skyrim.

It will be less the improved engine but the much higher resolution and the requirement you set.
As you said you ran the 4850 with low settings. You can for example try the ORRR2 with high settings and see how it runs.

yeah, i did push the settings down. i dont need such things like aa. but i whant to play the games in native resolution on my 27inch. othe resolutions than that are interpolatet and look blurry
