I have played LoG along several mods and I never was able to find out what is the bone amulet for? I mean, does it grant something to the wearer?

You mean beside the crude caveman look?

In the original Dungeon Master there was also a sortlike amulet/necklace which was called:
Pendant Feral.

It was never clear what it was for either.

correct, along with the Gear Necklace, there is no Resist Cold +50 or anything else, it has no positive or negative effect

it is just there to be "found" and "worn" by a team member (pretty early on I would say as well)

Well, technically its still possible there is some under-the-hood code that we have no access to that checks whether it is worn and affects combat in some small way, but that's highly unlikely

these "basic items" that appear not to aid the team physically are still fun to find and collect and wear for your team

Obviously there has to be a limit on these but it would great to see even more of them

Maybe I'm wrong but I think I recall an alcove puzzle that needs a bone amulet

I recall that there was one puzzle that asked for generic skulls. After that, until pretty much the last levels of the dungeon, my party had collected every single skull in the dungeon and was carrying it around.
