Mods repository

Post by PZpeanuts »

Hi all,

It's been a while since I played Legend of Grimrock and I think it's time for me to explore another facet of the game : modding.
I'm already modder on another game, Project Zomboid, and I've played a lot with LUA so I hope I'll make nice dungeons :)

Anyway, I'm here to talk about a problem that is often encountered when creating and/or searching for mods. I mean, the forums are not the ideal solution to inventory mods. Find a mod that you loved a few months ago can quickly become very complicated and can quickly drive you crazy. And if mods are old, there is a high chance that links to download them are broken.

As I said earlier, I'm creating mods for Project Zomboid and I found a good repository for my mods. And I wanted to share this discovery with you. This repository is xenolith website. Xenolith is specialised in mods hosting for indie games only. It offers a lot of cool functionnalities for modders, but also for players who want to find cool mods for their favorite games. I used it since few months and I'm really satisfied.

Here's a description of what xenolith do (copy and paste from the about page of xenolith):
For modders:
  • Upload directly to our servers or use the built in Link-System to continue using services like Adf.ly or other filehosters.
  • Add screenshots or explanatory images in a gallery. Choose your cover image!
  • Gain exposure, thanks to our popularity system.
  • Add as many files and images as you want.
  • Track your visits and downloads in detailed analytical data. Full Graphs and everything! Hot damn!
  • Rank yourself among other modders, if you want to. No pressure, what-so-ever.
  • Transfer your forum posts to our site with ease! It's as easy as copy & paste!
  • Optional: Choose from six creative commons licenses and let others know what they can do with your creation.
  • For users:
  • Maintain a list of all your favorite mods.
  • Subscribe and be notified when updates arrive.
  • like the mods you enjoy and make the author feel appreciated.
  • Give constructive criticism and help develop the mod!
  • No download limit, no speed limit. Because we love mods.
Actually, Legend of Grimrock is not supported by Xenolith. So I want to know if you are interested by this kind of tools. If this is the case, I could ask to the webmaster to create a repository for Legend of Grimrock. I'd really like to continue using it for my future mods.

I think we'll probably pass. We've already got the Steam Workshop and the Nexus thing, so another thing like that would most likely just be too much for an author to bother with
