Running through Steam and Parallels?

Post by harmonictempest »

I finally got Parallels for my Mac, partly because of wanting to play games like LoG. :-) However, all I get when I run it through Steam is a generic notice that "grimrock.exe has stopped working", before the game even loads.

I'm on an iMac running Mountain Lion, using Steam inside Windows 7 inside Parallels 7. I looked around the forums, and attempted to use the Wineskin port, but it didn't work (I think because I don't have access to the install.exe file, but I'm not sure - the directions on the wrapper were unclear). I also tried running the .exe directly, not through Steam, and had the same problem (other Windows games worked both in Steam and when I ran the .exe directly).

I've been pretty excited to play this game, and am frustrated to get shut down without even an obvious reason. Any advice? I've attached the error message details below, in case they'll mean more to someone else.
