Saving does not work? & Spells
Hi there. I just purchased the game and started playing it for a bit.
I kept saving after every puzzle, but then one of my characters died and I didn't seem like there was a way to revive him, so I reloaded my previous save, but instead of getting there, the game just brought me back to the very beginning without any XP and items. Am I doing something wrong or is this some kind of bug?
Also I wanted to ask if there is a way to hotkey spells, or if you always have to select the runes again.
Edit: Ah now I got to a save crystal and apparently can restart from there. Why is there even a save option when you can only resume at the save crystal anyway? =o
I think I need help with those undead skeleton warriors. I can't get past them. They attack so fast and deal so much damage that it seems impossible to defeat them. Is there any trick to it?

Hi there,
interesting issue you have there. I have accumulated about 100 save-stands. There somewhere is a cap that you cannot create more saves. And these saves really work as intended ...
I guess that your firewall might be a little to "paranoid" and prevents LoG to create proper saves? But this theory lacks the fat that your autosaves seem to work properly ...
Suggestion: Re-Install the game.
In general: No, saving is not a bug, it is a feature. And the way it works on your 'puter it seems to be less of a feature and more of a bug.
Do you play LoG via Steam or standalone? And what OS?
All the best!

If your on Windows, do you run the game as Admin? some games might not have permission to create/change files sometimes if not running as admin. Also, do you create a new save, or did you overwrite the save named 'Autosave' Cause that save will be overwritten every time you start a new game, or click a crystal.Rya.Reisender wrote:Hi there. Reinstalling the game should fix most, if not all, errors in the game, if you have the time and patients to do that.

I'm playing the game's standalone version. But really, it seems like an intentional feature. Apparently if one of your characters dies your savestate will be reverted to the last save crystal instead of being at the place you saved.
It would just be nice if this would be told to the player beforehand.

Hi there,
What you describe there, it is not intended. And I did not experience "your case" even once in all the more then 80 saves alone on my first play-through. This one I played with the "default party" and the game-level "hard", and I happened to experience many deaths - especially in the "Mush-Room" and the "Fighter's Challenge", and I had no trouble reloading my last saving without any losses except for the last few minutes between the last save and the death of my characters/ party - which is kind of normal; but I never was thrown back to the last autosave or start of the game, unless I did not choose to do so.
All the best!

As you I play the standalone, and that with a 4 years old Vista-machine notebook (Studio 17 from Dell).Rya.Reisender wrote:I'm playing the game's standalone version. It is not an intentional feature. It sounds like a bug. If your on windows, In your documents folder there should be folder called "Almost Human", and inside there is another folder called "Legend of Grimrock" Which should have all your saves. see what the highest numbered save is, then try creating a new save, and going there and seeing if the game actually creates the save, and is just having trouble reading it? Have you messed with your save, or game in any way? Also there is a folder in there with the saves called "Portraits" You can put custom Portraits in for a nice custom looking party.Rya.Reisender wrote:I'm playing the game's standalone version. Re: Saving does not work? & Spells
Well the "bug" doesn't occur anymore. It only happened when I died before reaching the first save crystal. Now it seems to work fine, so I don't think it's a problem with the write access to the save folder.

Hi there,
that's good to here.
But I would like to inform you: The "save"-function of the game is not necessarily directly connected with the blue crystal. This only applies for the auto-save.
But beside this you are able to create your own safe-spots. Just open the save window and click the uppermost "area" of the save-screen in order to create a new save. Have you tried this? And if so, what happens then? If you wish, I provide you a screenshot about what I actually mean ...

Re: Saving does not work? & Spells
Are you sure you're saving the game under a different name than the auto-save?
I never see that being explicitly mentioned anywhere in this thread.
Every time you click a crystal OR start a new game, the autosave slot gets overwritten, so don't rely on the autosave for your manual saves. Instead, give them different names. You can overwrite existing saves, but it's a smart thing to start a new slot every now and then, for example, each time you reach a new level, or perhaps also each time you passed a tricky puzzle.

Ok Thels, a few before this I could over look, they might have needed help. But this thread is old and not helping anyone. Are you posting and reviving old posts just to increase your post count? Cause it's kinda sad to see new posts, only for them to be bumping up old threads already resolved or not needed anymore.Thels wrote:Are you sure you're saving the game under a different name than the auto-save?
