I can see more of the pics now, but still only just-over-half. If I do the zoom out thing, that works, but the text is still so small that it doesn't make much sense to show any text (and I don't like messing with the browser zoom level, which then has to be reset).

The picture of the lightning blast is cool.

I can also right-click and "view image" (in Firefox) which opens the pic in it's own window, but the best way would be to see the full pic right in the thread while reading.

I suggest taking pics without text, and then resizing them to no more than 800 wide, preferably 640 wide, so they fit easily in the browser window while reading the thread.

I don't want to create smaller pictures. I hope the second picture is o.k.

It can be acceptable one way or another (zoom or view pic separately), so if you want to go with that and just continue the story I look forward to their adventures!

You don't need BIG images to tell a story. As a matter of fact, that's, over all, a bad idea. Because you're reading this paragraph, then scroll down past this great, huge, image, then continue reading; then scroll down past the next huge, image...

For example, check out my use of smaller images in this blog on Neverending Nights called The Unexpected Journey. (It's about my trip to New Orleans but it uses plenty of small images to spice up the blog).

ah yes, good example, small pics can do the trick to add flavor, but the writing is the main substance

But what do small pictures of a dungeon, of fightings or characters show to the reader? I can easily reduce pictures to the size of a bigger stamp, but what can a reader do with this? If a picture f.e. is only 4x4 cm and shows an exploding snail : How many time needs the reader to guess what is could be?

It's not my intention to create a LoG-comic with much more pictures than text, but f.e. the picture of the electrocuted mushroom at high resolution looked great (IMO). I made some pictures of the basic ice spell yesterday killing the skeleton warrior on level 1. Some of them look so well, they could be used as a wallpaper.

O.k., I understand and accept that too big pictures can destroy everything else. That's why I now start the game at 1600x940 and size the screenshots down to 1280x960.

@Sir Tawmis
Interesting blog!

You're right. Placing pictures on the left or right side mixed into a text looks great. But the pictures here at this board are placed in the middle of the page, I found no way to move them to the left or right side. And I'm sure I can't write the story "around" the pictures here, as you can do on your own created page. So if I only can place one picture centered, why should it be so (very) small ?

First day of captivity

We walk through hallways. Sometimes there are branches. But they don't lead very far. It's not hard, it's easy. Sometimes we find keys to open gates and sometimes there's a lever. Nothing attacks us. But we are suspicious. We need to.

Since we left the cell, Four Eyes collected every torch we found. I don't know why he takes them. He says light is life. He's right at the moment, we can't make light by magic now. But later we don't need them. We can make our own light. But Insectoids are not strong. We must be careful not to carry too much things. This will slow us down, this will make us hungry. We found no food until now, so we can't eat to regain strength. I will not allow him to carry too many torches. Why do he take them? The hallways are illuminated and we can easy replace a torch that burned down with a new one. Maybe I find it out later.

There is very little useful here in this part of the dungeon. Some clothes, some stones and a cudgel. It's a horrible weapon. It's only for strong and barbaric people. It's not for us. In some regions of the dungeons we hear an eerie noise that causes our nervs to vibrate. Sometimes, if we listen close to a wall, we hear a slurping noise. Where are this noises coming from? We haven't found it out yet.

I order my followers to stop. I think it would be a good idea to test our magic. There could be enemies here, No, I'm sure there are enemies here. We are strong magicians. We can fight them. But we must be sure that our magic works if needed. I cast a Fireblast. Ironskin casts Shock, Coldblood tries Ice Shards and Four Eyes casts Poison Cloud. I'm pleased with the results. It seems there is no barrier that prevents magic here.

We found a crossing. On the right side is a gate but to the left we see a creature. We know this creature. It lives in every part of our world. It's a giant snail. It stares at us. I think about it for a short time. There is no need to kill it because it does not attack. We are not hungry at the moment. But we need food in the future. We need food to survive. So I order our group to attack the snail. At first we throw stones and the shuriken and Coldblast casts Ice Shards. It 's the only spells we can use at the moment that has a wide reach. The snail attacks us now. It wants to live. I feel sorrow. It dies after I casted a Firebolt followed by a Shock spell from Ironskin.

I feel somewhat releived that we find snail slices. We can eat them. They not taste good but that's not important. We must stay strong. We must.

In the room with the snail we found a knife and some clothes. That's good. Clothes are culture. And they protect us from cold but we found nothing for protection. Even snails can bite us. They can make us suffer.

We see more snails. More food? I hope. We attack and we kill them before one of them get close to us. We find 3 more slices. Now everyone of us has food. That will help us further. We see a door behind the place where the snails died. It needs a key. Where is it?

There are two ways. We follow one to a room. There is a loincloth but we don't take it. It gives our muscles more power but we lose energy. That's not acceptable. The other way is a dead end. But there is also a gate. Behind the gate is a pit. Behind the pit is a pressureplate. We can't reach it. But we can throw something on the plate. A stone. Coldblood takes one of the stones she carries and it works. We hear a dull noise. The pit is closed now. Near the wall behind the pit we find a key. Strange. What's the reason for such a simple test? Do they think all prisoners are silly?

Coldblood takes the stone and I turn around to walk forward to leave the room. My folllowers are behind me. Suddenly the pits opens below us. Oh no! Not again! I don't want to fall deeper into the dungeon without control. My followers try to hold me. But they can't. I drag them with me....

We felt into a small chamber. We're wounded. Heavily wounded. But on the other hand we're lucky too. We're alive. I take a deep breath. I learned a new rule: It's wrong to be too self-confident. You make mistakes then. They can lead to death.

We must rest. It's the only way to heal our wounds. We are in a small room. There is no enemy here. We only see a flickering light close by. Before we rest we move one step closer to the light. We don't want to sleep under the pit. Maybe someone or something may fall down too when we rest. It's not good to be crushed.

---------

We wake up. All wounds are healed. I wonder how this can happen in such a short period of time. It's was not a long rest. We are not hungry now. I feel something. I have a presentiment of danger. Many dangers. Maybe that's the reason our wounds heal so fast? Was this dungeons designed by the creators to heal wounds fast so that the prisoner suffer longer than probably necessary? Maybe we're watched? Maybe we're are actors in a twisted play? Maybe that's why the Weakskins often forgive the prisoners? Do they laugh about us now?

My thoughts return to our situation. Where are we? We are deeper in the dungeon now. How can we leave this small chamber?

The light. The light must be the way out. There can be no other reason for such thing to be here. So we go into the light. I hope it's not like dying, Insectoids often see light during their last minutes. The Big Winged One says it shows the way to her. It's a good light. But we don't want to meet her now. We want to show the world what we are capable of.

We feel a sudden pain. We don't see anything. After a short time our mind is clear again and we don't feel pain any longer. We are standing close to the same pit we felt through. I try to arrange my ideas. Was this whole level designed to show the newcomers what can happen? Like an introduction? I don't now, but it's possible. If we find a stairway to descent into this unknown level, we must sharpen our senses to prevent dangerous mistakes in the future. I don't believe, it's easy to survive at deeper levels. Maybe every level is a new class of danger? How many level are there?

We go back to the door. We open it with the key. Before us there is a face carved in stone. A writing says "Heal my sight.". Coldblood points to the face and shows us that the stonehead has no eyes. She's right. There are only holes in the stone. What fits in there? We don't know. We need to search the hallways and rooms around here precisely. But first we meditate. We need a clear and strong mind.
