The OP wants something to decorate his bookshelf, in addition to the game. That's, I think, the thing.

This weekend I am making my own CD Case & Disc covers based on the extra art work -
While I love big-box art and CD sleave art when I buy a product, (I do prefer a hard copy and will seek this to the stars and back) - Its also quite forfilling to make your own... obviously not make it look poor.... fortuantely for me, I may have some subtle skills in this area =)
As I mentioned in another thread, I am more than happy to share my work with the community here if its okay with the originators.

I think, it's my duty as a costumer to communicate my wishes and and needs - and I hope I made it understandable now.

And I'm not alone - which was to be proven.

I would appreciate that.

to emphasise my point on owning a license to a game, and the way things are going check this out, it supports what I said, but things will only get worse
the new gen of consoles that are coming, will be online all the time, you buy games direct from the store, and even then, you might not really own the game, only the license to play the game, both the PS4 and the Xbox will go down this route, even older games will not work. this is a two fold attack, both to combat piracy and the second hand market, which publishers hate, and have been trying hand to counter, Batman AC had a code for catwomen, that you could only use once per account, so if you tried to sell the copy, the other person will lose out on the catwoman campaign. So publishers are losing money both to piracy and the second hand market. I heard rumours that the next gen of consoles will be online only, and this following article proves that
http://games.yahoo.com/blogs/plugged-in ... 39870.html
for all those that hate steam, at least you still own the games, the way things are going, you won't own any console games, just a license to play them. this is the future, and you better accept it, as its not going to change
boxed copies of any game is a thing of the past

It's really interesting that people talk about this as though it's changed. It's always been the way. Software has always been sold as a "license", all the way back. You don't OWN "IBM DOS 2.0" whether you get it in a box or not. IBM still OWNS the software. You just own a license to use it. This isn't new, hasn't changed, and likely never will.
Video game companies' attempts to thwart the resale market are new, but software licensing isn't.

Yes it's true, as you said probably in the future the consolle and pc games will be direct downloaded and the retail box game purchase will end.
Anyway i think that is an horryble thing.
I heard also ubisoft that told the customers that the future game manuals will be only in pdf version in order to be more "green and environmental sustenable"...but the price is always the same.
I not agree now and i will never agree to this policy: yes, you can tell me that the game is always property of the designer/productor/developer ecc ecc but i want somethig if i spend my money.
Would you agree if, instead of eat an hambuger, someone after you give him the full money, could put the hambuger already chewed direct in your stomac without touching your tongue?

Getting back on topic, if you really want an authentic experience you can burn your standalone installer executable to a disk and put it in a nice little jewel case. Or you can buy a truckload of floppies for a really AUTHENTIC experience.

~500 HD 3.5" disks, or
~1000 DD 5.25" floppies.
That's assuming it's used for installation.
For an authentic "please insert disc X" experience,
~850 3.5" or
~1750 5.25" disks.

As I had a ZX Spectrum 48K, I wonder how many C90 cassettes that would be?

Chripes, this took some effort to dig up.
Apparently on average speccy stored 1.5kbit/s, or about 190kB/s, so that makes single side of C90 1000kB(!) other sources say 1350 baud, which is probably more sane (includes check bits or some such), which shrinks a single side to about 890kB. Multiply by two and you get 1780kB per C90 cassette.
Which works around to 400 cassettes.
Loading (assuming no retries) would take 50 days. =)
