I'm pretty impressed with the lower levels, they are fairly powerful. Especially the fire to the woodmen.

But also the ice shards have a nice range. Makes fun to me.
But, to make it clear: there is no need to carry the magic scrolls through the dungeon after I write them down on my handwritten notebook?

Once you've learned the spell, you can discard the spell scroll and free up the inventory space. To be fair, you can technically cast all of the spells (when you have reached the appropriate level) without ever needing the spell scrolls, but you (as a user) obviously have to remember the combination!

Therefor I will make me a Magic-Notes-Boork. Are there already any well designed (fan made) ones?

Loads of online guides to the Grimrock spells! I didn't do this on my first play through, as I wanted to do it 'properly' and write them down on a piece of paper, but now I'm playing through mods I just use the web if I've forgotten a spell rune combo. As I have the Steam version, whenever I need to recall a spell, you can just hit 'shift-tab' to bring up the Steam overlay, click on 'Web Browser' and then do a quick search.

Oh yea, the web changed the way of gaming a lot. In the early years it was at least an adventure to find a walktrough but nowadays.
I also prefer the classic way: handwritten note-books, that's why I asked for well designed templates.

Ahh - apologies, didn't realise you were asking for a template instead of a spell list. I just mapped the symbols to numbers (1-9) and then all my spell listings on paper were basically "1" or "135" say.

I'm a little confused: I found an invisibility-spell-role (Air-Magic 19) but no ice- or fire-magic-spells level 8.

I know, I can look them up in the web but... no. Anticipates the game-design the player to try the magic out, instead of hiding the scrolls?

There are indeed some spells that have no spell scroll, for example ammo enchantment spells. There are only one or two scrolls but still four spells. Now when you know what the runes represent you can figure out the spell for the missing elements so it's no big deal.

With a few exceptions, the spells follow a similar enough pattern that you can intuit the other elemental versions of a given spell once you've found any scroll of that spell type.

Hi,
I wish there was a spell which could enhance the sword with fireballs again or the lightning rod.
