Paladin type class

Post by Alpha Stryke »

Hopefully, with the advent of Grimrock 2 we will be getting some more classes.

I am hoping for something akin to a Holy Knight, aka a Paladin. I don't want this class to be like a D&D Paladin, but thematically similar. ANd heck, maybe it's counterpart, the Dark Knight (or Blackguard if you will)

IMO the Paladin would skills focusing on powerful attacks, and powerful defence. Along with Holy Arts to add in the mystical factor. So:

Skills:

Sword: includes both one handed and 2-H swords. Has different special attacks depending on which sword you equip

Shield: bonuses for a defensive Paladin weilding a 1-H weapon in conjunction with a shield. Includes using the shield to attack, push back a foe, protect a party member from damage, etc.

Hammer: 1-H and 2-H Hammers (Mauls)

Holy Arts: Powerful Holy supernatural abilities. Not Rune Based. Require the Holy Knight to call out to his patron for aid. Includes stuff like a powerful boost to attack, infusing weapon with Holy Light, explosion based attacks, defensive powers (wards, auras), etc.

Slayer: Includes abilities relating to undead, demons, and dragons (so Undead Slayer, DemonSlayer, and Dragon Slayer) When you put your first point in this skill you include which type of enemy you want to be a Slayer off: You remained abilities then affect that enemy type only, but the bonuses/abilites are powerful.

Alternatively, the weapon skills (sword and hammer) have different special attacks and bonuses as compared to other classes. So a Sword Skills first special ability might be 'Judgement Blade' which causes the sword to be infused with Holy Power (causing it to glow) and does extra amount of damage per attack for a couple of rounds.

Lastly add in a Faith attribute which is what the Paladin draws power from. The higher the Faith, the stronger the Holy Arts.

Thoughts?

I hope LoG2 isn't becoming the next AD&D iteration. Too many clases don't mean it's better.

I doubt it will have many. (I didn't know ad&d had many, I thought 3.5 had a lot) People just like suggesting. I frankly don't think any of these (class) suggestions will be taken.(not at all to be rude to suggesting, I just don't think they will take.)
