Hello All,
I downloaded a mod using nexus mod manager,had it install a mod and went into the game and couldnt find my mod anywhere.
I did not download the editor.
Any insight is welcomed.
how do you get downloaded mods to work?
Re: how do you get downloaded mods to work?
I'm pretty sure that while the editor is still in beta, you need the steam version of Grimrock to play custom dungeons.
You will also need to opt-in to the beta test (right-click the game in your steam library and choose opt-in)... this will download the version of the game which allows you to play custom dungeons.
If you have a non-steam version you will probably have to wait until the beta test is over and the new version of the game is released through other providers.

Also sometimes the authors upload the wrong file. U can check this easily by downloading their file manually. If it is a zip/rar and it contains only a .dat file then itsgood. If not, then he uploaded the wrong file/files.
Re: how do you get downloaded mods to work?
you won't need to use Steam workshop if you don't want to. Just turn on the beta updates in steam for Grimrock, then it will update the main game, and then you can use Nexus for the mod management.
The only thing is, a lot of authors haven't been uploading to Nexus, only Steam Workshop, so you might miss a lot of the dungeons

If you have the steam version you can join the beta and get access to the latest version now, which will allow you to use dungeons from either the workshop or from nexus...qwert_44643 wrote:Grimwold wrote:I'm pretty sure that while the editor is still in beta, you need the steam version of Grimrock to play custom dungeons.

to join the beta:
* right click Legend of Grimrock in your steam library
* on the context menu left-click "properties"
* choose the "betas" tab
* change the drop-down to say "public beta"
* click "close"
steam will now update you to the version of Grimrock that has the "Custom Dungeon" option in the main menu. Then all you need to do is download a mod from nexus and extract it to your dungeons folder, which is found somehwere like:
C:\Users\YOURNAME\Documents\Almost Human\Legend of Grimrock\Dungeons\" -- On windows Vista/7
When you start the new version of Grimrock there will be a new item on Main menu called "custom dungeon" which will list any dungeons you have saved in this folder.
