Controller support?
Controller support?
Is there going to be support for a controller? I'd like to play this on the big screen with surround sound, and while the game itself looks complex, the controls that I saw in the manual look like they could be mapped to a 360 controller. Any word on this?
Re: Controller support?
There would be probably big problems with spellcasting system.
Re: Controller support?
The spellcasting system is about choosing the right combinations of ruins right? Is it in real time? If not, map it to the right stick. Stick in neutral has the cursor on the centre ruin, aim to choose your ruin.

I don't think it's going to happen. The interface is entirely mouse driven. You can have more than one casting box up at a time, so there is no single "control" to map it to. Right-clicking and left-clicking on the character boxes will have different effects, etc. There is no "active" character you are controlling, it's just where you click.
Basically, the interface would have to be redesigned almost entirely for controller support.
And yes, everything is real time. No pausing to issue commands.
Re: Controller support?
Thanks for the answer! I thought the entire game would stop if you stop moving as well, like in Nethack.

Controller support wont work. On top of everything already mentioned the world is also interactive (buttons, switches, etc) there is is just too much going on to utalise a restrictive I/O like a controller.

I think you are mistaken, there were versions of EOB on consoles.cryocore wrote:hmmn. Someone who obviously hasnt played one of these games... ever.Basman wrote:Thanks for the answer! I thought the entire game would stop if you stop moving as well, like in Nethack.

I had Dungeon Master on the SNES to.
Daniel.
Daniel.
A gently fried snail slice is absolutely delicious with a pat of butter...
Re: Controller support?
While controller support might be a bit unlikely, why not simply get a wireless mouse & keyboard? One can get a decent wireless mouse & keyboard for ~25-30€, and while it might be too much for a single game, if you want to be able to play a lot of different games on your TV, then it will probably be a worthy investment.Basman wrote:Is there going to be support for a controller? Re: Controller support?
Something like this is most likely NOT ranked very high on the list of priorities.
Besides, why would you EVER want to avert away from the awesomeness of keyboard and mouse.
