realised on Ninty 3DS! (but without the 3D which sucks anyway)

Aaand...to make things easier a turn based option, and/or 3D wifeframe graphics option a la 'Dark Spire' (a true 8-bit 1st person RPG) Think "Wizardry 1" on the Apple II and your more or less there...

3DS needs more RPGs that are not full of bug-eyed, cutesy anime angst-ridden emo characters (can't warm to Final Fantasy)...like Grimrock...

Carry on...Wouldn't it be cool if Grimrock was...

Wouldn't it be cool if Grimrock was....

Longer?

It's a straight forward, no story, go from floor 1, down to floor 13 in a few short hours. Sounds long!... It isn't... Especially after the first time...

I want to see a long hard game! When I hear old school, I don't want the useless stuff we have now, holding your hand the entire way. I want the challenging, throw your controller through the TV, dieing 12983576 times challenging game that 'Old School' was. Take away the map? Big deal, easy to remember, since it isn't s maze. Make the enemies hit harder? They would have to be able to hit in the first place, and with how the game works in combat, especially assassination that is 1 hit kill to every enemy from behind.... This game is so short and easy.... No challenge at all after playing it the first time.... Kinda sad...

Well, it might be challenging to some players, cause they can't adept. But I can adept and learn, so I am always manually dodging and running around enemies. There are very very few areas where you HAVE to fight an enemy in a long hallway with no way to move to the side out of range and exploit how the enemies move.

The major part of the game tho is the puzzles, not the fighting. And when you beat the game once, you already know how to complete most if not all of the puzzles. Depending on how much attention to finding the secrets you put in. Game is kinda like Portal 1. Very little story till the very last puzzle room, and very short game. I am hoping the make it like Portal 2. Which is story driven, and about 4 times longer than Portal 1. Kinda 4 portal 1 games, in 1. That's what I hope to see here in terms of longness. As for the challenge. It doesn't even have to be the enemies, or time base puzzles. I just want more challenging puzzles. Stuff making you scratch your head trying to figure it out with the hints they give you. Most of the game is Trial and Error. Doesn't work? Change something. Still doesn't work? change something else. There is only so many possibilities before it pops up. Also most of the secrets are near the switches and stuff. There isn't anything that actually makes you go around, explore, or revisit old areas.

Nope. But I used to play a lot of Metroid, a lot of old RPGs, and mostly old games, since I don't have a very good PC. Probably can't even hold Oblivion on this piece of junk xD so can only play the old challenging games. Luckily I have my PS3 for the more modern stuff xD

Ah, well difficulty settings are important for me as a player since 20, as becoming hemiplegic - basically everything right handed - I can't play like I used to so have to make alterations to keys/layouts, use a joystick somehow or even the score with difficulty. I'm currently playing on easy on level 3.

I solved the rapid on/off teleport puzzle on level two by plugging in a trackball mouse and placing it very close to the 'S' key so I could walk backwards as soon as I pressed the switch. Sometimes I use a pencil with an eraser on the end.

This also explains my Neverwinter Nights adoration so much :-) It was made with those with disabilities in mind (the famous/infamous one handed radial menu).

Well, better get off to bedfordshire - good & informative to talk with you. See you later!

Some people couldn't complete the game on easy, never mind normal or hard. ;)

I personally found the game to be a decent challenge on normal but Old School mode with no maps and it took me 20-30 hours to complete it. Quite a bargain for the price. :)
