Game Manual?
Re: Game Manual?
We wanted to focus more on the lore in the manual because the game mechanics are explained in the game. Also, game mechanics might change with game updates and we don't want to keep updating the layout of the manual.

Makes sense.

Re: Game Manual?
that does make sense, regarding updates, while the steam version will automatically update, what about the GOG version? will those that bought it from GOG get updates too? or will you have to download the game everytime an update is released? not really sure unless you do patches for that version on this site?
just curious as I have that version too, well it will be for a friend, but don't want to miss out on outdates for the GOG version

Re: Game Manual?
After watching the trailers and seeing how wonderful this game looks, I pre-ordered it this morning and have now joined the ranks of those anxiously awaiting its release. I downloaded your generous pre-order goody bag and immediately began devouring the manual.
That brings me to this post. I love that you guys have taken the time to put some lore and background into your manual, and really wish more games would do this. However, I do see some grammatical errors and would be more than happy to offer some input so that things can go out the door in as refined a state as possible. I know that might be at the bottom of your list as you make the final push to go live, but a little extra polish goes a long way. When reading the ramblings of an old sage, I was thrown for a loop by his use of a double negative when implying the prisoners have nothing to lose.
Would you be interested in this feedback? If so, who should I communicate with as I don't want to just put up a revised transcript on the forum.

Yes, please. We are not native english speakers so this is much appreciated.
Re: Game Manual?
I don't know how easily you can change the manual but since it is digital I'm hoping it can be done more easily. At the end of your story this phrase: "But the criminals didn't have nothing to lose" needs to be corrected to either "the criminals have nothing to lose" or "the criminals didn't have anything to lose". The double negative didn't seem to be something that the story teller would use based on the rest of the story's language.
I'm not a huge grammar nazi or anything, but that just stuck out to me. I'm looking forward to the 11th!
*edit* I see that Sleepcoma already mentioned this. I'll leave this here in case he didn't forward the details.

Re: Game Manual?
Reading the manual's intro reminded me of the "Expedition" lore from Ultima 5. Great stuff.
Re: Game Manual?
I finished reading through and notating the manual. Great stuff and I can't wait to play.

Thanks a lot, got your PM! I'll take a look at it when I get back to the office tomorrow.
Re: Game Manual?
Since it was in the goodies I wanted to ask: Is it okay to show others the pdf of the manual? If you say no I understand, but if it's cool I'll let people see it on my site.
